DEPARTMENT OF LORETO

Loreto is a department of Peru located in the northeastern part of the country. It is the largest department in the country and the second largest subnational entity in Latin America after Santa Cruz in Bolivia, according to the area of 369 000 km2 of Amazon territory, almost entirely flat, where it runs sinuously large rivers drained from the Cordillera of the Andes causing seasonal flooding. In this region the Marañón and Ucayali rivers meet and the main course of the Amazon River.

The Loreto territory was initially populated by successive waves of wandering indigenous groups. During colonial times, few missions were successful in some form permanent populations. In the late nineteenth century, the explosion occurred rubber fever sudden fortunes in the hands of the rubber bondage and forced hundreds of Indians; during this period rivers explored the jungle and the city of Iquitos, the departmental capital was consolidated from the cleavage of San Martín in 1897.

Loreto is also the most diverse department in ethnic and indigenous languages, 2 four languages still employed in the department are isolated languages (Urarina, taushiro and ticuna) and houses five families of endemic languages (Cahuapana families huitoto, peba-yagua , tucano and záparo). Many other linguistic varieties have recently disappeared, as Muniche.

Climatology

Tropical, hot, humid and rainy, with an average temperature of 28

Fauna

Highlights include the following animals: bighorn sheep, mule deer,

Cougar, rabbit, wild rabbit, coyote, fox, snake, cachora, iguana, hawk,

Hawk, pitahayera dove, Dove Mountain, chacuaca woodpecker, blue bird,

Sparrow, crow and buzzard. Of course we can not forget the variety of

Aquatic species aside.

Fauna

In the Peruvian Amazon there are many different uses for plants, medicinal, fruitful,

Industry and others, among them are: Victoria regia, orchid, bromeliad, aguaje palm

Mahogany screw shiringa, cedar, mahogany, shrubs and many more plants.
