LaUniversidadNacional“SanLuisGonzaga”deIca,históricaylegalmentenaceporLeyN°12495del20deDiciembrede1955,quelacreay6añosdespuésenunagestaqueenaltecealpuebloiqueño,enestatierradeJoséMatíasManzanilla,CesáreoChacaltana,VíctorManuelMaúrtua,SebastiánBarranca,AbrahamValdelomar,Olaecheayotrospreclaroshombresdeestoslares,quetantodieronporlacausadelaculturanacional,un18deFebrerode1961enunhistóricoCabildoabierto,realizadoensuplazamayor,pusieronenmarchasuUniversidadydesdeentoncesalafecha,nuncadejódefuncionarLAUNIVERSIDADNACIONAL“SANLUISGONZAGA”DEICA,yparaquejamásseolvidesuorigenylatranscendenciadelorealizado,haquedadoplasmadoensuescudoyblasón,sugénesisyproyección,porsiemprealdejaresculpidoenlenguamaterna“ICAHATUNYACHAYHUASI”-LLACTAMANTALLAQTAPAQ”–“ICACASAGRANDEDELSABER,DELPUEBLOPARAELPUEBLO”;asíesteCentroSuperiordeEstudios,estáalserviciodeloshijosdelpuebloiqueño,delaregiónydetodoelpaís,alolargodesus54añosininterrumpidosdeimpartirculturayciencia

DisposicionesComplementariasyFinales,dandocomoresultadolaaprobacióndelEstatutodenuestraCasaSuperiordeEstudios,porunanimidad,quedarálugaraqueseestablezcannuevoscamposenelquehaceracadémicoydelainvestigaciónquenosllevenanuevasfronteraseneldesarrollodetodaslasespecialidadesqueseimpartenycultivanenlaUNICA,siempreenbeneficiodeldesarrollolocalynacional.

ElpresenteEstatutoUniversitarioquedacomolamejorpruebadetrabajoeficaz,diligenteyhonestodelosmiembrosdelaAsambleaEstatutariaelegidosdemocráticamente,porelclaustrouniversitarioypormandatodelaLeyN°30220.

Artículo1º.   LaUniversidadNacionalSanLuisGonzagacreadaporleyNº12495,del

20 dediciembrede1955,es unaInstitucióndeEducaciónSuperiorUniversitaria,con personeríajurídicadederechopúblicointerno.PorhistóricocabildoAbiertodelpueblo deIcadefecha18defebrerode1961,entróen funcionamientomedianteResolución SupremaNº137del18demarzode1961.

Susedecentrales la ciudaddeIca,cuentaconFacultadesdesconcentradasen las provinciasdeChincha,Pisco,PalpayNazca.Y entodoelpaísdondesujustifiquesu presencia.

Artículo2º.   LaUniversidadNacional“SanLuisGonzaga”deIca,eslaprimeraCasa deEstudiosUniversitariosdelaRegión,ostentasunombreenhomenajealasvirtudes delSantoPatrónde lajuventudy lainteligenciauniversal,SanLuisGonzaga,religioso jesuita.

LossímbolosdelaUniversidadNacionalSanLuisGonzagadeIcason:
