CREATING A BASIC GREEN (ENVIRONMENTAL) POLICY

Step 1:

Think about what your company wants to achieve through your Green policy. Brainstorm a list of action words or very short phrases that reflects your company’s environmental commitment to your employees, customers, and the community.

Environmental protection, climate change mitigation, sustainable use of natural resources, compliance with environmental legal requirements, knowledge of the environmental impact of our company, awareness and sensitization of our employees, integration of the environmental management system, definition of objectives and goals, periodic evaluation of environmental aspects, respect for nature and biodiversity.

Step 2:

Drawing on the list of words and phrases you have brainstormed above, put them together into a one or two sentence statement.

In JBethencourt we want to ensure the protection of the environment, helping to mitigate climate change, sustainably using natural resources. All this through compliance with environmental legal requirements, knowing the environmental impact of the company, raising staff awareness, integrating the environmental management system into the overall management, defining objectives and targets within an environmental program, reducing gas emissions, periodically evaluating environmental effects and respecting nature and biodiversity.

Step 3:

List the ways that your company is, or plans to, achieve the commitment(s) expressed in the statements above.

Work respectfully, preventing pollution and minimizing the environmental effects of our activity.

Promote the R&D of technologies that contribute to the mitigation of climate change and enable the sustainable use of natural resources.

Comply with the environmental legal requirements applicable in the countries where we operate.

Establish indicators and reporting systems to know the environmental impact of our centers.

Promote environmental training for our employees.

Integrate the environmental management system into the overall management of the company.

Define specific objectives and goals within an environmental program and their corresponding reviews.

Reduce greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to minimizing our environmental footprint.

Annual evaluation of environmental aspects derived from our activity.

Respect nature and biodiversity in the environments where our work centers are located.

Step 4:

Draw on the list you developed in Step 3 to put together a statement of how your company will fulfill its environmental commitment(s).

We are committed to carrying out our activity within the parameters of sustainable development, maintaining control and management of the environmental aspects it produces, especially the most significant ones. We also establish a common framework for the definition of objectives and the implementation of activities that contribute to the continuous improvement of the environmental management system.

Step 5:

Combine the statements you developed in Steps 2 and 4 and fine tune them to make your complete green policy.
