Knowledge Management in intensive organizations knowledge

The study objective was the implementation of knowledge management in knowledge intensive organizations. The review was performed on the theoretical foundations of the knowledge management and the state of art review on the implementation of formal processes in national and foreign universities. To answer the research objetives was used a qualitative and quantitative approach with a fiels strategie. Was selected the Universidad Nacional Experimental de Guayana (UNEG) as a case study in order to describe the representative of the implementation of knowledge management in knowledge intensive organizations. The results indicate that the university has not implemented a formal knowledge management, and to determine the dimensions that can contribute to the implementation of knowledge management in the instittution are: orgainzational aspects and tools of knowledge management.

1. KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT AND

INTENSIVE ORGANIZATIONS

KNOWLEDGE

In the so-called Age of Information, organizations require innovation and change needed to address new threats and opportunities in an environment of intense transformation. In that vein, the Organizations can apply management techniques and use the same technology and infrastructure; but  only the excellence of the members of that organization does make a difference. The excellence manifests itself in competition, both organizational and personal, of its workers; responsible, together with the organization, development their skills, knowledge and skills (Rivero, 2006).

For the above, Senge (1990), among others authors said that organizations in which the relevant knowledge is characterized by a performance and competitiveness that not sensitive to learning organizations.

In this context there have been systems for Creation and Knowledge Management. Authors Davenport and Prusack as (2001), Barnes (2002) and Rivero (2006), supported on: changes allow the development and demand of goods and services based on knowledge; the appearance of information technology and communication; the growing importance of knowledge as a basis to generate competitive advantages; and development of systems, models and indicators for Measurement of organizational knowledge.

Added to this, Rodríguez et al. (2001) indicate that major institutional forces determine innovation systems and therefore development initiatives on Management Knowledge are the university, the state and the industry. In that sense, the role of the university in the generation of scientific and technical knowledge refers to, as the knowledge go taking an increasing importance on  innovation, as an institution that produces and disseminates knowledge, will play a greater role in organizational innovation and consequently, depending on the progress of the implementation of knowledge management.

Consistent with the above, Serradell and Juan (2003), incorporated the notion discussion about colleges conceived as knowledge intensive organizations. His main base is to analyze these institutions since their location and capacity; and, from structuring, storage and distribution applied to knowledge generated; using technology information and communication.

Universities, as intensive organizations  knowledge, are oriented to the use, generation and dissemination of knowledge. Thus, contribute to reducing the dependence maintain knowledge organizations individuals possess. Universities must facilitate setting and suitable means for is to develop an efficient management Knowledge, which results occur useful for the organization.
