computer case

A computer case, is the enclosure that contains most of the components of a computer (usually excluding the display, keyboard and mouse).

Cases are usually constructed from steel (often SECC — Steel, electrogalvanized, cold-rolled, coil) or aluminium. Plastic is sometimes used, and other materials such as wood and even Lego blocks have appeared in home-built cases.

Central processing unit

A central processing unit (CPU), also referred to as a central processor unit,[1] is the hardware within a computer system or smartphone which carries out the instructions of a computer program by performing the basic arithmetical, logical, and input/output operations of the system. The term has been in use in the computer industry at least since the early 1960s.[2] The form, design, and implementation of CPUs have changed over the course of their history, but their fundamental operation remains much the same.

Computer monitor

A monitor or a display (also called screen or visual display unit) is an electronic visual display for computers. The monitor comprises the display device, circuitry and an enclosure. The display device in modern monitors is typically a thin film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) thin panel, while older monitors use a cathode ray tube (CRT) about as deep as the screen size.

Floppy disk

A floppy disk, or diskette, is a disk storage medium composed of a disk of thin and flexible magnetic storage medium, sealed in a rectangular plastic carrier lined with fabric that removes dust particles. They are read and written by a floppy disk drive (FDD).

Hard disk drive

A hard disk drive (HDD; also hard drive, hard disk, or disk drive)[note 2] is a block-based data storage device used for storing and retrieving digital information using non-volatile memory (retaining its data even when powered off) in a random-access manner (individual blocks of data can be stored or retrieved in any order rather than just sequentially). An HDD consists of one or more rigid ("hard") rapidly rotating discs (platters) coated with magnetic material, with magnetic heads arranged on a moving actuator arm to read and write data to the surfaces.
