Metropolitan Park of Santiago

This park is located east of the bohemian Bellavista neighborhood. It is composed of the hills of San Cristóbal, Pirámide, Chacarillas and Bosque de Santiago. It concentrates 40 percent of the green areas of the city, since it forms a dense forest of 400 hectares that reaches up to 880 m.s.

At the top of Cerro San Cristobal is the giant statue of the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception - 37,000 kilos and 15 meters high, where people gather to pray, meditate or enjoy the view of the city that is observe on the terrace located below the image.

After repairing a few moments in the breathtaking view, you can continue to know the park along its length. For this it is possible to be transported by means of a cable car that runs 2,030 meters on a cable supported by 12 towers. This cable car system was inaugurated in the year 1980 and since then it has been one of the biggest attractions for those who love the heights and for those who do not suffer from vertigo.

As the cable car advances, visitors can get off at any of the intermediate stations to enjoy the many attractions or tourist attractions that the hill has. Among them, you can visit the Torreón Victoria, the Botanical Garden, the Wine Museum or in summer enjoy the Tupahue pool, where hundreds of Santiaguinos meet to sunbathe and share pleasant moments with friends.
