Abstract

I chose to study this concept because I think it is a subject of much importance nowadays, and that is increasingly demanded in all positions of an organization's work "know how to lead", regardless of responsibility or the position held in this one. Unlike the exercise of authority, the leadership is granted by others. A leader has to be someone who can guide other people to fulfill an objective, besides this will have to be a symbol of admiration for others. Generally, a leader has experience and accuracy to achieve goals for a group of people.fo

The leadership phenomenon? We can see it everywhere, in some children playing in the park watching some child organizing a football match, in our homes among the family members when the mother manages the housework, in the university, at work, etc. It is the role; the way we have to lead others in order to get a "something"

However, we should not confuse leadership with the authoritarian culture that exerts that gesture of power, that is, people do what I want, regardless of what you think or want, but we must see the handling as that factor that gives an exciting sense to what you do, to the project of company that you have and that helps you to go further from the short-term benefit.

But what is a leader?

The author Brown in: Sánchez, Vázquez, J.F in "Leadership: Theories and applications" (2010) defines it as: "that influence that is positive for the whole group, is say, that helps the group to carry out its purpose, to achieve objectives, to maintain a good functioning, and adapt to their environment. " It is necessary that the directors of the organizations or everyone with people in your charge is at the same time leader. Let them exercise at the same time institutional and personal power. Likewise, leadership is not the exclusive function of manager, you must combine it with others such as planning, controlling, making decisions.

Below I will quote the desirable abilities in a leader according to the author Serrano, Rincon, A in his work: "Mauro: The Way of the leader" (2003) p., 59)

The leader, as the person in charge who has the ability to coordinate, organize and Above all, motivate a team of people to understand their vision and get their objectives and goals, has to gather three capacities to be able to create, consolidate and increase your position These three capacities are:

  • A technical capacity: that supposes a high knowledge of the work, with or without specialization, and that manifests itself by an analytical capacity, an ease of management of instruments and techniques, and an ability to combine Consistent form raw materials, machinery, etc..; ideas and circumstances that translate into obtaining tangible results.
  • A human capacity, which refers basically to work with people, and that allows you to deal with attitudes beforehand, opinions and assumptions of other people or groups, as well as intuit and show sensitivity to their feelings, which allows them to influence their behavior.

  1. You can base this ability on creating an atmosphere of fear and insecurity that creates dependency or submission of others.
  2. Or, on the contrary, in creating an atmosphere of approval, respect and security among its people.

The authentic capacity to work with other people must become a natural and continuous activity since it is not something that is needed only in the moments of making decisions, but in the individual performance of each day.
