The U.S. - Mexican Jobs Problems

It is sad how the American people and the politicians are taking and have exploited the idea that the Mexicans are the real problem in these country and every election time they used this idea to gain votes, making promises about deporting all the Mexicans from the US and build a wall on the US-Mexican border to stop the crossing of the Mexicans.

Like Donald Trump say on TV about the Mexicans, “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people”. They are damaging the mint from the American people selling this idea. This is why the Poem "So Mexicans are Taking Jobs from Americans" by Jimmy Santiago Baca makes more sense about this problem; is a simple satirical poem about the type of racism that the Mexican people need to live every day in this country. Santiago Baca expresses the way that he feels about his personal experiences using imaginary symbolism to cause an effect of the theme in this poem a theme that awareness about this problem that the Mexicans are suffering.

Over the poem, Santiago Baca uses his imagination to exaggerate the image that the “Gringos” what he refer to the American people sees the Mexicans and the needs to work in this country. “Do they come on horses with rifles, and say, Ese gringo, gimme your job?” (Line 3). In this part, Santiago Baca express how the American people perceive the people from Mexico, like primitive people that ride on horse and rifles without law and order and take what they want no matter how is the person. In this part, Santiago Baca tries to show the American to look around and try to see if the Mexicans really are barbarian people or just a regular and normal people like the other. This is the image that the media or the TV are projecting to the people, creating a racist people with a bad image about the Mexicans, this is what Santiago Baca try to say, ok you are telling me that the Mexicans are bad persons. “Do they sneak into town at night, and as you’re walking home with a whore, do they mug you, a knife at your throat, saying, I want your job?”(line 8-11).

He created some type of atmosphere in this lines that make you question two times if what the TV or the media are telling you, is true. No, just because the media say I believe exactly the same point of view is more his referral and the switch in this poem from satirical to reality point in the lines what he says “Well, I’ve gone about trying to find them, asking just where the hell are these fighters. The rifles I hear sound in the night white farmers shooting blacks and browns whose ribs I see jutting out and starving children” he probes with the reality that the bad person is not Mexican instead the American people create a bad image about the Mexicans. They do not realize that the real problem about his jobs is not the Mexican people, they are the own people they need to understand that the racist and they begin to hate the black and the browns.

Baca uses a large symbolism and moved us to the reality in this lines “Even on TV, an asthmatic leader crawls turtle heavy, leaning on an assistant, and from a nest of wrinkles on his face, a tongue paddles through flashing waves of light bulbs, of cameramen, rasping “They’re taking our jobs away.”

In some part, the symbols and the image contrast harder than the normal way. In the lines what he say “an asthmatic leader crawls turtle heavy.” this works are very significant because describe the older generation. The generation that grows with more cultural separation and the differences. In the line “tongue paddles through flashing waves”. They are the people that rule this country, the politician’s people how to kidnap the idea and over-exploited the bad reputation of the Mexican to gain votes, for his own good. They need to avoid this image and take more conscience of the working people, the people that really work hard every day to make this nation a better place to live.
