Strategic Architecture based on Core Competences of Vedado Saint Jhon`s Hotel.

SUMMARY  

The Complex Hotel Vedado-.St. John's, it has demonstrated a good acting in the last years, that´s why in 2001 it undertook the managerial improvement. Nevertheless, since 2006 the Complex it’s having difficulties with the satisfaction of the clients, and it has gone diminishing in the last three years. This is due, among other things, to a strategic bad planning that presents deficiencies like the non-identification of the attributes of the service, to the resources associated to the aggregation of value and the non-identification of the organizational competencies, what impedes an increase of the acting.  Hence, the main objective of this investigation is to identify the core competences of the organization in the studied Complex.

To fulfill the objectives were used theoretical methods, such as analysis and synthesis of information resulting from the consultation of specialized literature and documentation; empirical methods, such as surveys, interviews, document review and reporting work, in combination with others such as brainstorming, group work, and finally statistical methods for data analysis and validation of the results and techniques numerical and graphical descriptive statistics, through the use of Minitab 15.0 software.

The main result of the investigation was the obtaining of the Strategic Architecture based on Core Competences, and the strategies for the development of this Competences.

The skills identified were:

  • Domain performance in hotels and tourism (essential).
  • Focus on providing a reliable and professional service (Essential).
  • Orientation change and improvement (Dynamic).
  • Continuous improvement based on a lifelong learning organization (Dynamics).

The strategies proposed for the scope and competence development were:

  • Develop values in the workforce who are taxed to the improvement of their performance.
  • Training of personnel.
  • Design and implement the Integrated Management System of Human Capital, in correspondence with the NC 3000: 2007.
  • Coordination of joint development projects.

  • Development of the project for the construction of the Model of Strategic Integration of the Organizational Competencies System.
  • Prioritize conditioning and / or maintenance of local infrastructure and property, as far as possible within the investment plan.

It is recommended to implement the formulated strategies and to continue with the identification of the other competences, as well as to extend this investigation to others hotels of the Gran Caribe Chain.
Deploy strategic architecture based on organizational skills to build a process architecture and work of this complex and generally the Hotel Group, to strengthen the implementation and monitoring of the strategy.
