Nature vs. Nurture

Every human comes to the world with an specific codification (genes) that define the physics of the person like the color of the skin, eyes, form of the hands, height and all of the physic. Notwithstanding, the genes (nature) also describes the personality, intelligence, qualities and many others of the human. But, what happened with the environment and surroundings? They (nurture) are going to describe the personality, intelligence, qualities etc ...too.

The nature vs. nurture debate is a longstanding controversy about the effects of biology and social systems on individuals and behavior. This debate is about the relative importance of an individual's innate qualities (nature) versus personal experiences (nurture) in determining individual differences in physical and behavioral traits. The philosophy that humans acquire all or most of their behavioral traits from "nurture" is known as tabula rasa ("blank slate"). The “nature” side of the debate argues that people are shaped primarily by genetics and biology. The “nurture” side argues that our participation in social life is the most important determinant of who we are and how we behave. For example, there is disagreement over whether men and women differ because of biological factors such as hormones or whether the differences are due primarily to socialization and other social forces. In other studies, with so much attention on explaining behavior in terms either of nature or nurture, scientists at the University of California, San Francisco described a fascinating example of how heredity and environment can interact. Perfect pitch is the ability to recognize the absolute pitch of a musical tone without any reference note. People with perfect pitch often have relatives with the same gift, and recent studies show that perfect pitch is a highly inherited trait, quite possibly the result of a single gene.

But the studies also demonstrate a requirement for early musical training (before age six) in order to manifest perfect pitch. Time will tell whether there is a "perfect pitch" gene, but it seems reasonable to think that many personality and behavioral traits will not be exclusively the province of nature or nurture, but rather an inseparable combination of both. That's the reality! Nature and nurture are an inextricable combination, they go together and explain the humans together.

Genetics have the greatest role of the psychological and biological traits, but the environment will be the one that maintains these psychological traits. But is logical that if the first generation (father and mother) have someone with a characteristic of being aggressive the second generation will have a percentage of that characteristic so it will have the tendency to be like that. For example, being optimistic or not will be defined by the genes, but the environment is in charge of this characteristic along life. A human could be a optimistic person because of his happy fathers and he/she could lost that optimism because of the environment or vice versa.

Since Aristoteles times, it has being studied that the mind and the soul respond to both internal and external forces. As already mentioned, nurture can change the way you look at and respond to everything, and how you're raised or taught will determine what kind of person you'll be in the end. Being brought up in the "ideal" family will definitely affect the way you see the world and how you react to certain situations. Depending on what type of person you are or want to be, you will look at you family life as a happy thing and enjoy it, or you may be unsatisfied with it. Though, all it really takes is one person
