Bob Marley

Booker Robert Nesta Marley was born on February 6, 1945 in Nine Mile a small town north of the island of Jamaica, in the Caribbean Sea. Cedella Booker was the son of an Afro-Jamaican who was 18 years 6 (where Bob was born) and Norval Marley a white Jamaican of English ancestry (his family came from Essex), captain of the Royal Marines (British Marine), who considered English, because when entering the British Armed Forces for the First World War in the English fomulario be said, for he was not questioned more thing (and because at that time Jamaica was a colony of the United Kingdom and its white population had British citizenship). The date of birth of Norval is controversial as many sources as born in 1895 (so it would have 50 years ago when his son was born Bob Marley) but according to other sources, born much earlier, in 1881. Norval Although he helped his wife and child, rarely saw her son to spend time traveling and, under some sources her mother (the grandmother of Bob) pressed him to stay away from the child for racial prejudice. Bob's father died when he was 10, in 1955.

Bob Marley had to endure ridicule and scorn by black Jamaicans a mulatto (product mestizo mixed white and black), especially in childhood, adolescence and early youth (said to be the brother of his first girlfriend said that "we do not want white in this house"). But after Bob showed indifferent to these slights and said not ashamed of their racial mixture, although he identified simply as black and that was the only part of their racial heritage by demonstrating interest

Later years and death

In July 1977 it was discovered that he had formed a acral lentiginous melanoma, a malignant form of melanoma, on the big toe of his right foot. There is an urban legend that this injury was caused by an injury during a football match, but this is totally false, and the lesion on his thumb is a typical sign of this cancer. Despite his illness, Bob wanted to go ahead with scheduled performances and no cancer was removed and put on treatment.

The cancer had spread throughout the body. The rest of the tour was canceled and Marley joined the Bavarian clinic of Josef Issels, in Germany, and began a controversial treatment based on avoidance of certain foods, drinks and other substances.

The spread of cancer started as a melanoma on his foot and produced metastases in his lungs and brain were the cause of his early death. The last words to his son Ziggy Marley were "Money can not buy life".
