THE IMPORTANCE OF A COLLEGE DEGREE FOR A PRESIDENCY.

Any citizen can be a great president! The lack of a college degree can raise doubts about whether a president is fit to make good decisions. At present, education is a fundamental tool for the development of a professional, degrees, masters and doctorates are increasingly requested. There are citizens that without the need for a college degree generate great benefits for the community, through social work, urban development projects or volunteering, where their great values as a person are shown, are factors that generate the necessary experience for a candidate presidential.

In Latin America there are three leaders who never attended a university program, José Mujica, from Uruguay, Evo Morales, from Bolivia, and Nicolás Maduro, from Venezuela. Given this situation, the report, "Education of Presidents. A critical study" developed by Carlos Maldonado, full professor of the Faculty of Political Science, of the Universidad del Rosario, affirms that the Latin American region faces great obstacles to enter a a better society based on the flow of information, because the presidents do not have the academic rigor to develop the commitments that would allow progress in the growth of a country, since a position of this magnitude should not be occupied by anyone. However, today the academic experiences have a relative value, since the conditions to be a government leader go through meeting the aspirations of citizens, a president is measured knowing how to interpret the moments in which his country lives, since They know how to overcome the problems they face. As an example, is José Mujica who is a president with charisma, who has gone through very varied situations in his life, and that has led him to know how to interpret the context of Uruguay and has taken him to the forefront. Therefore, to govern matters education, and above all leadership.

Studies show that only in countries with low democratic standards have there been presidents with only military training. Thus, despite being elected presidents, their lack of technical knowledge has led them to the collapse of their country's economy or to make mistakes in the face of critical decisions. But there are times when a ruler with postgraduate studies does not know how to read the picture and ends up damaging his image within his society. As is the case of the former president of the United States for two periods, from 2000 to 2008. George Bush (businessmen graduated from Yale University and Harvard Business School) is the US president with less popularity at the end of his administration. According to figures from the Gallup pollster, the ex-president obtained 34 percent popularity among respondents. At the end of his government, the United States was immersed in two armed conflicts in the Middle East, under a severe economic crisis and a setback in the issue of the civil rights of Americans, says a BBC article.

All citizens have the possibility to be president. Leadership is not only measured by their university knowledge, there is experience, morality, empathy, wisdom and many factors that define a good leader. A head of state as a requirement must know the real situation of his country, a necessary requirement when making correct decisions. For this reason, earning the empathy of his people can be a key point for a prolonged and quiet mandate.
