QUESTION:

¿ HOW CAN THE NLP (NEURO-LINGUISTIC PROGRAMMING ) HELP THE STUDENTS TO HAVE A BETTER PERFORMANCE AND POSITIVE ATTITUDE IN THEIR ENGLISH LEARNING PROCESS?

Most of the students in our classes have a negative attitude with their English learning process.

When the students are asked ¿Do you like English? The answer in a big percentage of the students in Distrital Schools is no. This answer shows that students are not interested in this subject. Some of the reasons they argue are that English is difficult or that they are not good for it; another idea is that it is not really important or that they don´t need it in their lives. All of this can be an obstacle when the teachers want to teach this subject.

Nevertheless, we can minimize this problem carrying out interesting and creative classes, but also it can be changed applying some techniques related with NLP.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming is a tool could be used to work with students. It consists of a technique used to analize, codify and modify behaviors observing how people use verbal and not verbal languages.

The way as people use language is very important to obtain positive results in different fields. Some students have poor mental maps but they have the possibility to change their way of thinking. NLP can give them tools for changing it in order to choose other realities. In this way, as teachers we can help our students to be conscious and responsible with this election and be more successful in their studies and in their lives.
