can/could/may/will/would

we use to ask for, give and refuse permission.

we use to offer help and make requests.

we use to make polite requests and ask for a favor. could and would are more polite.

must/ have to/ need to/ can't

we use, must and have to to express obligation.

we use, need to to express necessity.

we use, don't have to and don't need to to express lack of necessity/obligation.

we use, mustn't and can't to express prohibition.

can/could/be able to

we use, can to express ability in the present.

we use, could to express ability in the past.

be able to expresses ability and forms all tenses. it is mainly used in tenses where we cannot use can.

may / might /could

we use, may, might and could to express possibility in the present or future. might expresses slight possibility.

must/ can't

must and can't express a logical deduction and refer to the present.

infinitive

we use the full infinitive (to + base form of the verb): to express purpose.

we use the bare infinitive (base form of the verb without to)

pasive voice

use

we use the passive voice to emphasize the action rather than who or what is responsible for it.

Formation

the passive voice is formed with the verb to be in the appropiate form and the past particilple of the verb of the sentence. the person who causes or carries out the action is called an agent and is preceded by the preposition by.

puede / podría / puede / va / haría

que utilizamos para pedir, dar y denegar permiso.

que utilizamos para ofrecer ayuda y hacer peticiones.

que utilizamos para hacer peticiones corteses y pedir un favor. podría y son más educados.

debe / tiene que / debe / no puede

Podemos utilizar, debe y tiene que expresar obligación.

que usamos, necesitamos expresar necesidad.
