Objective.
To understand the deep cultural differences between the Anglo and Latin nations in the Americas.

Guidelines.

  1. Do some research on the main characteristics of both Latin and Anglo cultures, and make a mind map based on your findings (differences and similarities).
  2. Think about your local business environment and look for six typical situations where these characteristics may play an important role in business communications.
  3. Design a solution strategy or intervention to deal with the cultural conflict in each of those six situations. You may use Hofsted's cultural dimensions.

Latin vs Anglo (Similarities)

Latin America and Anglo-Saxon America have some common features and others that distinguish them. But despite these differences, they are united by the same challenge: to improve the living conditions of the population. America is considered a single continent. History is the common feature between Latin America and Anglo-Saxon America. The history of the United States has been deeply influenced by its contact with Latin America and, in that sense, the dependence has been mutual.

The industry is a beginner and is poorly equipped.

Life expectancy is 65 years. Livestock and agriculture have poor yields, due to the use of reduced technology in story activities.

The population is predominantly mestizo, indigenous and European.

There is also miscegenation of black origin.

In short, Latin American countries have not yet reached a high degree of industrial and scientific development, but there are positive prospects.

The population is eminently urban, more than 75% of the population lives in cities and their peripheries.

People living in the suburbs have their own homes and go to their jobs in cars.

It has a harmonious development of all its economic sectors and great natural resources. It is further favored by the abundance of coal and iron ore.

The basis of the economy is industry. Locomotives, railway equipment, appliances, computers and the automotive sector are widely developed industries.

Life expectancy is 75 years.

The agricultural and livestock activities are of high yield due to the use of suitable technology and to that most of the lands are of irrigation.

Most of the population is of European origin who speaks English or French and has minorities of Indian population.

In short, the countries of Anglo-Saxon America have a high standard of living and industrial and scientific development.
