WORLDPORT UPS 

For us, the costumers it is too easy, just to go to internet, choose what you like, and wait for your package arrives home.

But in that period of time it takes to get home, there is a coordinated system, so that it specifically what you bought, in the time promised. You need a really great logistic.

Worldport is the worldwide air hub for UPS (United Parcel Service) located at the Louisville International Airport in Louisville, Kentucky. Although UPS has had a hub at Louisville since 1980, the term was not used officially by the company until 2002, after a $1 billion, five-year expansion. Previously, the project was named Hub 2000. The facility is currently the size of 80 football fields and capable of handling 115 packages a second, or 416,000 per hour. With over 20,000 employees, UPS is one of the largest employers in Louisville, and in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The facility mainly handles express and international packages and letters. Worldport serves all major domestic and international hubs.

UPS has a great logistic, when a package arrives at the worldport, it’s touched by human hands twice, the rest of the route is by conveyor belts and cameras, there are millions of package, both small package and a really big package. The travel on the conveyor belts it’s for 13 minutes.

The employeer fixed a small label contains all the information about the package, then the employeer quickly prepair overnight package traveling for the airplane. The computer controls everything about the package, because when the package passes through the coveyor, the camera detect the label and the computer detect all of the label. The labels has the zip code, weight and the urgency.

For example, you can now where is your package for your tracking number, and it is because the they have camera for all their process.

The package are divided in parcels, small and irregulars. After this division is further divided in national or international. The national packages are deliverd in a UPS’s truck and the international packages are send by UPS’s airplane.

When the package reaches its destination country, they are dowloaded and passed on a conveyor belt, then the cameras detected the label, and decided the specific route.

When the package arrives for the correct place, one of the employees leave in your home, and only you need to give to the employee away a signature. So they know that the package has been delivered.

Now is impressive as you order ítems from another country and within days this at home and not just that, too it’s at home in good order.

This company is great, because you could grow your business internationally.

This system was created to have a great business vision, there are not limits for the companies.

UPS can helps your company, you could have more costumers, no just in your city, or your country, also you could have costumers in anothers countries.

Also you can safe money with UPS, because UPS do everything, for example with the customs fines, you dont need to worry about that.

Actually, we have some systems like UPS, for example FEDEX, DHL, maybe not as big as UPS, but you can to send whatever you want to wherever place, and its safer.

So you feel safe, because you have a tracking number, and with that you can know where is your package.

For to create a big company like UPS, you need too much communication, cordination, a really good logistic with your teamwork.
