Objetive:

Use the Simple Past Tense, Simple Present and Present Continuous focused on business strategies with the main objective of apply this in Laboral/formal situations.

Procedure:

Make this activity consist search the points that I’m going to do, thinking how I can explain better what I want to say and finally putting here. I have to think in personal experiences to explain better in some occasions and these are my answers:

Results:

Competence 1. Listening

Instruction: Listen to the song “Paradise” by the band Coldplay. Make a list of at least 10 sentences that are written in simple past tense. Then, used the same verb to create another sentence.

1.- When she was just a girl

2.- She expected the world

3.- But it flew away from her reach

4.- So, she ran away

5.- She dreamed of

6.- Every time she closed her eyes

PS: These is the only sentences in simple past tense, the rest of the lyrics just repeat the same sentences or make chorus in some word.

1.-  I was afraid to the dark when I was just a child.

2.- When I started to work in Metalsa, I expected a better salary

3.- That yellow canary flew from his nest last year.

4.- I ran a 10K career 3 years ago

5.- I dreamed that I could fly and travel around the world, it was an amazing dream.

6.- Sometimes when I saw a very brilliant light, I closed my eyes and little sparkles appeared on my sight

7.- My sister was sick last week and she was at bed all the weekend.

8.- Two weeks ago, I went to the movies and I saw “The greatest showman”. I expected just a boring musical, but it really was a very good movie!

9.-  My father said something bad to my mom last time, and the emotions flew across her face in a blink of an eye

10.- Last night, I dreamed about being rich and didn’t have to work or study anymore

Competence 2. Speaking

Instruction: In groups of two explain what a typical day or week at work is like. Using the present simple tense. Your explanation should include at least five details about your job. Then have your partner ask you a few follow up questions. Then, switch roles with your partner so that you both have an opportunity to be the speaker, and you both have an opportunity to be the listener.

Anahi: Sometimes is very difficult to me get on time to the work. I usually get up at 4:30 am, then after to get ready, have to take 3 buses I pray every time to get at 7 am. When I’m finally at my office, the first thing that I do is check my email, most of the time I have more than 20 emails and takes me around 40 – 50 minutes to answer and resolve (if it is the case) every one of them.

Miguel: 4:30 am? That’s really early, don’t you have sleep when you arrive at work?

Anahí: Yeap, a lot! but it helps that my activities per day changing constantly, maybe the Monday I’m just sending a report or format about how to use some container, supply the main line or just talking with some suppliers and the Tuesday I’m at some warehouse to getting information or trying to improve something.

Miguel: How long does it take you do that activities?

Anahí: Since 9:00 am to 12 o’clock approximately.

Miguel: Most of the things that you do, you do them by your own? Or do you need help from somebody else?

Anahí: I must maintain a close communication with all here, operators, suppliers, engineers, team leaders because sometimes I need help from all of them and when you have a good relationship with everyone is easier make your work.

Miguel: Well… you “finish” at 12 o’clock, so, what is your lunch hour?

Anahí: I usually have lunch at 12 or 1 pm, it depends of how much work I could have.

Miguel: After lunch, what do you do?

Anahí: As I said, my activities vary, but I think in most of the cases I continue with them if I didn’t finish them or sometimes, I have some meetings or phone calls with my coworkers to solve any problem or doubt that may arise.

They are spending less money on simple activities like going out to eat, buying new clothes, going to movies or in services like cable TV or home internet.
