(Chapter 14)

Abstract:

In chapter 14 which speaks of promoting health, education and training, teaches us that a healthy, happy and motivated workplace is very important to the economy of an organization and then for an entire country. By which should ensure that this aspect that always determined as a priority for an organization. Therefore it is very important that the high command of an organization are able to make the best decisions for their employees, aiming at improving promote a culture of safety and health oriented.

This chapter also teaches us that the promotion of occupational safety and health (OSH) is an investment that the organization must make for the future in order to maximize their utility and productivity, reducing costs that otherwise the company would have to assume expenses through diseases and accidents of its employees. impairing the productivity of the company and increasing margin lost è unnecessary extras. Keep in mind that the correct application of these measures to prevent security and health economic benefit not only the company, also improve the quality of work and quality of life of its employees who subsequently generate loyalty and fidelity by the employee to the company. Thus obtaining greater satisfaction subsequently be reflected in the effectiveness and performance of the company.

There are some countries where annual awards for activities promoting safety and health at work which seeks to evaluate different fundamental aspects as the number of accidents presented, permanent monitoring of risks for the workplace are organized. There are awareness campaigns by the system safety and health at work to inform managers and workers with hazards in their workplaces and their role and responsibilities in preventing occupational accidents.

The companies that have excelled in good yield and excellent preventive control of safety and health, will be given a recognition of their efforts and will target many new firms become encouraged to follow the good example of companies winning.

For the system of occupational safety and health (OSH) there are two key concepts which should govern an organization to achieve the objectives that this system has:

Education: In the context (OSH) aims to promote awareness and positive attitudes that promote safety and health at work that enable managers and employees of a company to recognize the risk factors that contribute to occupational accidents, injuries and illnesses, and be ready to prevent these factors occurring in the workplace.

Training: A process of helping others to acquire the skills necessary to perform a particular job. Employers must provide the necessary instructions and training, taking into account the features and capabilities of the different categories of workers.
