Summary:

College education is currently an essential factor in determining the success of an individual in today's informational world. Apart from the knowledge gained, students get to explore different aspects of life such as art, culture, history, their aspirations, and dreams. However, the commercialization of education over the past few years has seen a difference in the culture of institutions of higher learning. Examples of this is where students are now referred to as consumers and education are the products; universities are commercializing their research work; patenting and keeping important discoveries secret; and allowing its name to be used by other companies for endorsement in exchange for financial gains.
