• HISTORY

In 1963, Amancio Ortega Gaona founded a company dedicated to the manufacture of clothing. The company has grown progressively until it has several manufacturing facilities distributing their products range worldwide.

After 12 years in the textile industry, Zara opened its first store in A Coruna. And two years later they opened their own factories, Goa and Salmor.

Since 1989 Zara begins to spread throughout the world by opening stores in Portugal, France and starting to get clients in the United States.

In the 90’ several brands joined the group Inditex with different lines to supply different sectors and tastes of the population.

In 2000 The headquarters moved to Arteixo (A Coruña)

• COMPANY PROFILE

Inditex is a Spanish multinational clothing company made up of almost a hundred companies dealing in activities related to textile design, production and distribution.

Amancio Ortega, is the Spain's richest man, and the world's third richest man, also is the founder and the largest shareholder of the company.

After six years being the CEO (Chief executive officer) of the group, in 2011 Pablo Isla was named chairman of Inditex .

As the biggest fashion group in the world, it operates over 6,200 stores worldwide.

The majority of its stores are corporate-owned.

The group designs and manufactures almost everything by itself, and new designs are dispatched twice a week to Zara stores.

Most manufacturing is now in low labour cost countries, mainly in Morocco, China, and Turkey, although much production continues in Spain and Portugal, particularly for its Zara brand. In addition, Inditex has a factory for shoe design, production and distribution in the town of Elche, on the Spanish Mediterranean coast.

The main objective of the Group is to offer products with the highest quality to all their customers by ensuring the long term sustainability of their activities. All the Group's operations are developed under an ethical and responsible context.

• INDITEX COMPANIES

Some of the Inditex companies are the following ones:

- Zara: It is the principal brand of the chain. It includes very different styles, diary clothes, more informal clothes, or more serious or formal clothes, they also have dresses and suits for events. This company has 2016 zara shops.

A division of this shop is Zara Kids, for children’s between 0 to 14 years.

- Bershka: Starting in 1998, this store began distributing fashion for girls, and, more recently, for boys too. It also has a youthful style, although not as urban as Pull & Bear. This company has 973 Bershka shops.

- Pull and Bear: This brand focuses on casual, laid-back clothing and accessories for young people with a very urban style, at accessible
