Test results:

The results of the below information was provided by Barrick.  We were not allowed in the mining pit while tests were done.  This really  makes the feedback more genuine for Sandvik.  We did see the grader between shifts when it would come into the shop for maintenance.  We also had the opportunity to see the competitor blades and get to talk to the grader operater.  This was the first time that Barrick had used the System 2000 and we were there to support their technical needs and help to install the system onto the grader.

• Two 8 foot sections with serrated teeth that were hard faced on one side
• Lasts approximately 8 hours
• Blades are changed at the start of each shift
• But the statement was made that our system needed to last 40 hours to be price competitive

Sandvik’s 25mm system 2000

• Four 4 foot sections with carbide tipped tools
• First set of tools lasted 85.4 hours
• Some tools had to be spotted in during this duration (10)  
• End protectors showed accelerated wear (24 hrs) in the extreme conditions

Barrick Gold’s Veladero mine was impressed with the results of the 25mm system 2000

Barrick Gold is about to break ground on the Pascua-Lama mine on the Chile side of the Andes with an expected output of 750,000-800,000 ounces of gold and 35 million ounces of silver. (This is a huge opportunity for Sandvik and our system 2000)

Pedr Chapman is in contact with the Product Manager of Wear Protection (Oskar Larsson) to have a set of end protectors made using the HX900 formerly known as Sancic- Sandvik cast in carbide

Customer comments:

      Barrick Gold’s Veladero mine was extremely pleased with the      results of the 25mm system 2000.  They needed it to perform 5x          better and were impressed when it lasted over 10x instead.
