GENERAL INTRODUCTION

The wealth that has this route offers many tourism opportunities that not only are centralized in the religious part.

There is no way to market the faith. However, it is worth to show tourists the wide variety of activities and tourism products at its disposal which are based on religious faith and devotion of the inhabitants of the cantons that make up part of the so-called Route.

The Guayas province is the only country that has 2 beautiful cathedrals in 2 of the cantons that constitute the path of faith, these are:

• Guayaquil, with its beautiful cathedral and,

• Yaguachi, with the Cathedral of San Jacinto.

Architecture with the churches of this route are also a great attraction for visitors and can not forget the countless myths and legends, stories and anecdotes that have captivated people for years, making them part of their daily lives and even turning part of the heritage transmitted to future generations.

DURÁN

INTRODUCTION

The canton Durán is one of the places of the Route of the Faith very pleasant to pass in family they present us tourist many options, as the Divine Boy's Sanctuary, the Railroad, the Pier; his Gastronomy is exquisite and we can enjoy coastal many plates and characteristic of Durán; its activities are programmed in festival days as Duran’s Fair that is carried out every year in October, Exhibitions of Livestock, Party of its Cantonización; their roads are of comfortable access. It has a pleasant climate and a view to the River Guayas in which you can appreciate the Santay Island, in the moment that we go by the bridge of the National Unit.

INHABITANTS

235.769 Hab.

The average temperature is of 25°C.

The oriental part of the canton Durán Guayas is traveled by the river, being located to the front of the island Santay; for the Southwest part of the canton is a small chain of elevations, where is the Cerro de las Cabras.

TRANSPORT AND ACCESS

Their access roads are asphalted and in good state.

PRODUCTION

For the western part is floors fertile acts for the agriculture. Although the agricultural production is important, Durán has transformed into an industrial area of first order with a very developed activity.

GASTRONOMY

Something of their typical food, the locals that are in front of the pier offer fry and other typical coastal plates.

TOURISM

Pier of Durán that is located in the streets pier among Quito and Yaguachi. Where one can enjoy green areas, a view point, child’s games and a fluvial jetty. The Divine Boy's Sanctuary Jesus, it is located in Cdla. Pedro Menéndez Gilbert. December of every year 25 are carried out a procession.

The railroad is another tourist attraction of the canton Durán.

AMONG THE PROGRAMMED ACTIVITIES THEY HIGHLIGHT

Duran’s Fair, the one that is carried out in the Enclosure (km. 2 1.2 Av. León Febres Lamb). It is carried out the first days of October, during the event the presentation of different products is made and at night you can appreciate the presentation of invited artists.

The National Exhibition of Cattle, is carried out it in the km 5 1.2 via Durán. Yaguachi, in the first days of October.

PARTIES

The celebrations for the cantonización are carried on January 10.

CONCLUSION

It is pleasant to know our country, because tourist has many places that other countries don't take, by means of the Route of the Faith we gave to know a little more than Durán that is a very beautiful canton that many of us especially those that we are to some minutes don't visit him; I have noticed that it has many attractions what has called me the attention, as tourist places, activities, and gastronomy.
