Children Practicing Sports

Practicing sports plays an important role in life. Some children spend a great amount of their time practicing sports and it is worth taking into account that it has some advantages, but some disadvantages too; for this reason it is good to know about these advantages and disadvantages .

To begin with the advantages, there is a good reason that it has practicing sports as Mary Galvin, MD says “Playing sports is a great form of exercise and exercise keeps your body healthy”. For this reason the importance that it has that children get the habit of working out in order to have a healthy life, because children who like practicing sports will have a reduced risk of suffering illness in the future, illness like osteoporosis. According to Dr. Art Hister (2004), “bones are like bank accounts. The bigger they are in the first place, the more you can stand to lose without feeling the pain”. Therefore, children who practice sports are less vulnerable of suffering bones fractures than children who don’t like working out, “ the greater the bone mass that’s built up in those early years, the longer it will take later on to lose enough bone to lead to fracture”(Hister,2004). Besides, when children are practicing sports they are building muscular strength since the muscles are the body organs that have to do the principal job during the working out process, as Lisa Balbach claims: “ Both endurance and strength exercises will improve muscles tone”.

Besides, practicing sports plays an important role helping children to deal with their problems. On this aspect, Levy (2007) affirms that “everyone gets stressed out, even children. While we may think of childhood as a carefree time with few major responsibilities, the truth is that our preteens and teens have plenty to worry about”. In this way, while children play with their friends, without a doubt the will enjoy doing it, so the stress levels that children have accumulated will reduce because “exercise releases hormones in our bodies, which actually decreases our stress level” (Levy 2007).

Other important point is the opportunity that children have to meet new people, also the chance to make new friends when they go to practice sports due to it will help children to get more personal development, because they learn to communicate with other boys, and they are able to understand another boys’ point of view, also cooperation and sharing will increase. In addition, it is already known that children who practice sports are more conscious about the right things they have to do in life, because of children who join a sports team are adviced by their trainer in the way that they have to practice sports instead of consuming drugs or getting addicted to alcoholic drinks or smoking, in this way their self-steem will be more developed and also the knowledge they will gain from their friends.

Furthermore, the act of practicing sports provides children with other important benefits that will help them in life. Take for instance these children who practice sports with their friends, they are making better their skills as competitive athletes by the time they want to get success in competitions, as Galvin (2007) claims: “ teams sports also can be a great experience. Kids get to improve their skills and feel that team spirit as they work together toward a common goal”. Therefore, we have to take into account that the more children practice sports, the better skills development they will get. Plus, children also might find that by limiting certain activities, like watching TV and playing video games, they will be more active whether if they start a daily sport routine, and it is really important because these children play together, so they will exchange
