Presentation 2 – Module 2 Intermediate English II

We all have something important that we have completed or achieved. For this presentation, choose a (1) PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENT that you have accomplished in the past. This could be learning to play a musical instrument, learning a new language, passing a driving test, winning an academic/sports competition, traveling to another country (or somewhere very special), or getting involved with a non-profit/charity organization. You may also use a project or invention that you have completed during your university studies.

In your report and presentation include:

1. Begin with a story about how your interest for this activity started. You may use the SIMPLE PAST OR PAST PROGRESSIVE forms.
2. Then, continue describing the events that lead you to complete this achievement or goal. You may use any PAST FORM in combination with the PRESENT PERFECT to describe the actual achievement.
3. Finish your story in the SIMPLE PRESENT or PRESENT PROGRESSIVE describing if you still practice or do this activity in the present.
4. Include at least 3 sentences in PRESENT PERFECT.
5. Make sure you use the COMPARATIVES “LIKE”, “SUCH AS” and “AS” at least once each word.
6. Include at least 2 EXCLAMATION EXPRESIONS (!).
7. Use the WORDS and VOCABULARY learned in class.
8. Include some pictures in your presentation as a visual aid. Personal pictures are ONLY OPTIONAL.

You may use presentation software such as PowerPoint, Prezi or any other.

Your written report must be (1) page long (text only). Use the story attached “Lighting up Lives” as an example.

Your written report must be TYPED to be presented for grading.

HOW I BECAME BETTER

I’ve thought a lot about my achievements. School, university, abilities, organizations that I belonged. I remembered my second position in a knowledge competition in first grade, my performances in the school, among others. However, there is not so important. The value of the real achievements in your life is gauge by how change your life.  

When I was child, I was so shy. Perhaps because my family is always overprotected. In those years, my life did not come into change environments. My challenging environment started when I’ve entered in the university. That was the start of multiples challenges in my life.

AIESEC is one of the platforms that change my contemplation of the world. But, if you want to become a better person, you have to come into challenging environments.

I belonged to oGCDP (Outgoing Global Community Development Programme) in AIESEC. This area does exchanges between Chiclayo and abroad.  

In AIESEC, I knew the best area in all my life, one of my real passions: Finance. I am student of Industrial Engineering, and in my career is not all about finance. But when I knew this area in AIESEC, it was like I knew my real role in the organization. And, when a person want to develop in her passion, the person search the way to achieve it. In 2014, I applied for be a vice-president of Finance in my local committee. I lost in the review board. There was my first fail in AIESEC.

But, I learned the importance of the work in group. The value of the support of your group. In 2015, I applied again, because I want to be a vice-president of the area that I love. Unfortunately, for second time, I did not pass the review board. How unfortunate!

In the same year, I applied again for the same position. And I went to vote assembly. But, for third time, I did not pass confident vote. What awful!

Three applies, three fails. I was like the worst unable person. The same day that I lost my third postulation, I applied for national support. That was a very challenging position, because it required a lot of knowledge about finance.

In November 2015, the national team of AIESEC Peru announcement that I won. I cannot believe that. I travelled to Lima twice, because I must to create a national financial tool.
