INTRODUCTION

Long ago time when production processes were carried out without any kind of technology or production effective tools which entailed was slow to profit long term. With the invention of the steam engine, printing and other machines gave way to the production more effective and efficient.

In recent years the goal of every industrial process is to obtain a final product of a

certain characteristics so that meets the specifications and standards of quality demanded by the market in this circumstance product properties will only be possible through a comprehensive control operating conditions as much as the feed to the process conditions environment are time varying. It is therefore used control systems with the mission of correct deviations arising in the process variables from the specifications, which are considered optimal for the properties required in the product produced

OBJECTIVES

General Objective

  • Known applications of control systems in industrial engineering.

Specific objective

  • Study the types of control systems are managed.
  • Technology relating to the control systems in production.
  • Know how it should apply the control systems in the industry, specifically in production.

SYSTEMS OF CONTROL

Is a set of devices responsible to manage, order, direct or regulate the behavior of another system in order to reduce the likelihood of failure and get the desired results. Generally, industrial control systems used in industrial production processes to control computers or machines.

There are two common types of control systems, open loop systems and closed loop systems. Control systems in open loop output is generated depending on the input; while in closed loop systems the output depends on the considerations and corrections by the feedback. A closed-loop system is also called feedback control system.

System open loop control

Is that system that the process only acts on the input signal and results in a separate output signal to the input signal, but based on the first. This means that there is no feedback to the controller so that it can adjust the control action. That is, the output signal becomes the input signal to the controller. Example 1: filling a tank using a garden hose. While the key is still open, water will flow. The height of the water in the tank can not make the key is closed and therefore is not useful for a process you need to control content or concentration. Example 2: When making a rusk, what we do is to control the toasting time herself entering a variable (in this case the degree of roasting we want). In short, we introduce as a parameter is time.

These systems are characterized by:

  • Be simple and easy concept.
  • Nothing assures its stability against a disturbance.
  • The output does not compare to the entrance.
  • It is affected by the disturbances. These can be tangible or intangible.
  • The accuracy depends on the previous calibration of the system.

System closed loop control

They are the systems in which the control action is a function of the output signal. Closed loop systems using feedback from a final result to adjust the control action accordingly. The closed loop control is essential when any of the following circumstances:

  • When a process is not possible to regulate by man.
  • A large-scale production requires large installations and man is not able to handle.
  • Monitoring a process is particularly difficult in some cases and requires attention that man can easily lose by fatigue or oversight, with consequent risks that may cause the worker and the process.

Its features are:

  • Be complex, but large in number of parameters.
  • The output is compared with the input and affects control system.
  • Feedback your property.
  • Be more stable to disturbances and internal variations.

APPLICATION

Industrial engineering, covers several areas of activity, such as management science, seeks projects, supply chain management, operations research, systems engineering, ergonomics, quality engineering and process engineering. Besides improving industrial engineering work processes.
