Actividad de adquisición del conocimiento

In this activity you will identify the present perfect tense in a text and produce a piece of writing in which you discuss life experiences people have or have not done.

1. Read the following text about Shakira’s like

Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll was born on February 2nd 1977. She’s known professionally as Shakira. She is a Colombian singer, songwriter, musician, record producer, dancer and philanthropist who emerged in the music scene of Colombia and Latin America in the early 1990s.

In 1995, she released “Pies Descalzos”, which brought the great fame in Latin America and Spain. Shakira not only has an amazing career with lots of successful events, but she was also helped many people around the world, Shakira founded the Pies Descalzos Foundation. It is a Colombian charity with special schools for poor children all around Colombia.

During her career, Shakira has performed at a large number of benefit concerts. Among the most famous are the Live 8 benefit concert in July 2005, the Live Earth concert in Hamburg, where she headlined the show, as well as the “Clinton Global Initiative” created by former US President Bill Clinton. She was also invited to the Oval Office by President Barack Obama in February 2010 to discuss early childhood development.

She has agitated against the implementation of the Arizona statute SB1070 against illegal immigration, saying that it goes against civil rights, Shakira is a UNICEF Goodwill Amassador and is one of their global representatives.

She has participated in some other works, like taking part of the group called “Freshlyground”. To create the official son of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)”.

She has also won two Grammy Awards, seven Latin Grammy Awards, twelve Billboard Latin Music Awards, and has been Golden Globe-nominated.

In every interview she gives, it is very interesting to notice she hasn’t lost her simplicity and her originality. She hasn’t achieved everything in her life; she is just starting.

2. Answer the following questions according to the text.

a) What is Shakira’s foundation name?

___R: Ella fundo una organización de ayuda para niños pobres colombianos llamada “pies descalzos”; también ha participado en importantes conciertos musicales a nivel internacional. Por último, ella ha creado importantes temas musicales representativos de juegos mundiales (Copa Mundial FIFA 2010, Sudáfrica) .

d) In your opinion… What’s the most important achievement Shakira has had in her life? Why?

___R: En mi opinion, yo concidero mas importante la realizacion de su fundacion, ya que ademas de ser una fundacion de beneficiencia, ella es quien aporta todo los gastos para dicha fundacion; tambien concidero importante la realizacion de temas musicales en diferentes copas mundiales, ya que se da a conocer como cantante.

e) Have you ever done charity for others? If not… would you like to?

___R: Si, eh participado en diversos programas de voluntariado, tambien eh participado en campañas de vacunación; me gusto mucho participar en estas ocaciones, ya que ayudo a alguien mas con lo que yo se que puedo hacer de manera correcta.

3. Think about another famous person you know has done good things for people.

4. Search on the Internet to get information about him or her.

5. Write in your notebook the most important things he or she has done.

6. Compare his or her life experiences with the ones Shakira has had.

7. Write a text with the comparison. Look at the example:

“Shakira has agitated against the implementation of the Arizona statute SB1070 and he/she (the famous person) hasn’t, but he/she (the famous person) has worked as a teacher and salesperson…”

RICKY MARTIN

Enrique Martín Morales “Ricky Martin”, es un cantante,compositor, actor y escritor puertorriqueño, nacionalizado español. Inició su carrera musical a mediados de la década de 80's, como vocalista de un grupo infantil llamado Menudo. A partir de 1991 se estableció como solista. Ha lanzado nueve álbumes de estudio, tres recopilaciones y más de cincuenta sencillos en español e inglés. Ha vendido más de 85 millones de álbumes como solista. Su álbum más vendido es el que lanzó en 1999, titulado Ricky Martin. A lo largo de su carrera ha recibido premios como 1 Grammy, 5 Latin Grammys, 3 Billboard, 8 Billboard Latin Music Awards, 8 MTVs, 8 World Music Awards y 2 American Music Awards.

La carrera del puertorriqueño comenzó a la edad de 12 años en un grupo juvenil de nombre “Menudo” en donde el se dio a conocer a nivel mundial; tambien ha participado en series de television como la de “alcanzar una estrella”. A lo largo de su carrera, en 1998,lanzo El tema “La Copa de la vida” el cual convirtio en el himno del Mundial de Fútbol Francia ’98, presentándose en la inauguración de estos juegos a más de 2,000 millones de personas.

El puertorriqueño creo una fundación con el nombre “Ricky Martin Fundation”, en donde el promueve el bienestar de los menores a nivel general, en donde se busca la justicia social y su objetivo es el de luchar contra los crímenes que se cometen contra los menores; como lo es el trafico sexual infantil y la pornografía infantil; esta fundación fue creada en el 2002.

COMPARATIVO;

Ambos cantantes han realizado diversas obras de beneficiencia a favor de la gente mas necesitada, en este caso son los menores de edad, ambos ayudan a estoy niños a una mejor calidad de vida, pero cada uno de ellos en diversas situaciones, Shakira ayuda a los pequeños en el ámbito escolar y Ricky martin en el aspecto de seguridad y sexualidad.

También, ambos comenzaron su carrera artística desde muy pequeños, pero en este caso Ricky Martin lleva mas años en el ámbito del espectáculo que Shakira; por lo tanto Ricky martin tiene mas premios ganados; pero tambien Shakira tiene mas temas escojidos para representar copas mundiales, uno fue el de FIFA 2010, Sudafrica y otro el de FIFA 2014, Brasil y Ricky martin solamente tiene un tema de Copa mundial de Futbol.

Actividad de Organización y Jerarquización

1. Check the use of the expressions since and for.

2. Write a sentence in the lines using for a since and time expressions according to the images. Consider the given example:

a) She has ridden horses since her childhood.

c) I have gone the dentist for 10 years, because I’m in treatment dental.

d) _She has sung for last month in a concert. ________________________________

e) We have gone at the beach since February, because is the month of love.

3. Fill in the blanks with the expressions ever, never, already, just and yet, according to the sentence.

4. Work in small groups.

5. Order the next expressions of time in ascending order.

Actividad de aplicación

In this activity will answer questions about life experiences and you will practice the present perfect tense.

1. Review the question forms of the present perfect with you teacher.

2. Provide an adequate beginning for each question

a) ________Have you________________ ever been to Spain?

b) __________________????______ have you done this year?

c) _____________________has___________ he sung in a concert?

d) _______________???__________ many times have you visited Africa?

3. Check the answers with your partners and the teacher.

4. Work in groups.

5. Read the instructions to play game and clarify and doubt you may have.

6. Work in groups of four or five.

7. Each of the groups will need a die and a counter for each student.

8. Student A throws the die and moves forward as many squares as the outcome was.

9. Student B asks the question in that square to student A. If Student A answer with the correct form, and the rest of the group agrees that the answer is correct, Student A’s counter remain where it is. If the answer is incorrect, the counter returns to its original square.

10. Students take turns, repeating step 8 and moving around the board until one student reaches the FINISH line. That students is the winner!

Actividad de Metacognición

In this activity you will create a poster or a Power Point presentation about the things you have done and you’re proud of and the things you haven’t but you want to.

1. Think about some activities you have done and have done and haven’t done yet.

2. Complete the following graphic organizer whit your own information.

3. Put together in a graphic organizer a PowerPoint presentation or a poster –as you wish- the things you have done and you’re proud of and the things you haven’t, but you want to.

4. Look for images that represent the activities you thought about.

5. Include the images in the poster or the PowerPoint presentation and prepare it creatively.

6. Present your poster or PowerPoint presentation to the group.

7. Ass a suggestion, you can make a contest to choose the best poster or presentation. Your teacher may help you determine the winner.

8. Check the rubric in Appendix 2 to know the evaluation guideline.
