  1. What is the definition of people orientation and task orientation?

My definition as the experience that I have  of working in teams is that the people orientation it comes from a persons who orientates others persons in order to do something, this works when a leader takes places in a team, and that leader has the power and knowledge of guiding the others persons of the team, and the task orientation is when it comes from just doing the following instructions.

I fell more like an a people who guided my teammates to achieve our same objectives, in order to do that all of my teammates should agree in a strategic and a common idea. In a group we should all give our opinions and do not keep any comment, in order to be in the same tune. In my report it shows that I am certainly the one who gives the instructions, but I can also accept some ideas from others and follow them, I can receive orders when all we agree to obey and follow the rules. For me the person who is more for receiving task is the ones who are shy of expressing their ideas and they show lack of security in their critics in the decisions. I will not find my self confortable working in some Japanese company because the people who worked in there, they achieve their leadership by the experience and hierarchy in the company, just any normal person can arrive to order things, because they may get in conflict with you.

My results of the Pt quest are little surprising because I use to do some of the mention points, put me  at medium leadership, and autocratic decision. I have observe my own results when I am working with my different teammates.

  1. Where would you like to work first if you had to work in East Asia? Explain why.

Would you advise to manage operations in that area with a focus on tasks or a focus on people? (base your analysis for this question on the elements and underlying definitions of concepts presented in the P/T test; please argument the strengths and weaknesses of both approaches and their possible complementarity).

On the basis of your results for this test, relating them to other cultural analysis tools, do you think you would make a good manager in the particular cultural area you chose first? Why or why not?

I guide my self I would like to work in a hotel in Singapore in a environment out of much stress, in the hotels there´s some stress but nothing compared to be an employee in a fabric that work more than 8 hours , also I would not work in a administrative company where my colleagues are under pressure, the workplace in a hotel, where I can deploy and develop my skills and competences between my colleagues; also there is a high standard for particularism in the workplace, I might have to work together with my colleagues, and here I can take advantages of my results of the PT test, that shows my leadership in the team works. I can have many opportunities to develop my self with the highly prepared managers that work in the hotel.  I note that I specially encouraged my self to be better each day, so all these factors create my professional experience bigger than if I stay back in Mexico working, there is too much collectivism and feminism and I would not like to develop my self, there´s the possibility that I could stay in the same workplace for years, the possibilities of growing professionally are very difficult.

I would like to manage operation in a focus on people, because I will be more advice to be in touch with the direct people instead of just focusing in task,. In order to create a team communication and helped others of the different situations that could appear, otherwise having the focus just in the task, will not be able to discuss the different problems. The observations are that people become satisfied at work, because when they feel they have a purpose, working in a team, also you encourage them to speak with the others employees, in order to be all in synchronization. Some of the disadvantages appear when one of the collaborates is a negative person that only causes problems, you need to observe that person and rotate him in other areas so see if he change or you need to fire him. Also we observe that in the tasks we are set to do reflect our purpose. It does not matter whether we are set the tasks directly by our supervisor or we have been given an overall task to set up our own sub-tasks to achieve an objective. The cons are that they could stress being ahead of others but you can solve this problem by giving all the same opportunities to give their ideas, also they  would let the members do their work by their own, not having the enough support of the others employees.

Yes I can be a good manager because I think I have the enough knowledge and tools to guide some of my teammates to achieve their goals, also in order to do that I have to work in team and know the colleagues that work with me in order to, achieve the goals of the person oriented leaders that are for me the most important in order to get all success. May the cultural area is the show of  concern for others, keep warm and supportive to have the trust if the colleagues,  also try too have more patience in the cultural aspect, because the Mexican people are very desperate so in order to understand others and help them, you need first to get knowledge of that culture, observe the weaknesses and their strengths in order to have a nice deal with your others teammates.

Creating a cultural strategy will expand my internal knowledge about their culture and how my Singaporeans colleagues really are.  This benefit my work zone because, instead of arguing between them I can be in their social circle , as a result of gaining their respect and loyalty. I will use this knowledge to interact with empathy and understanding. Also planning the different goals will make my colleagues to follow my leadership and achieve their goals, in their society is very important to be culturally aware. It involves taking what you have learned from being aware of cultural differences, and practice them, this will create a culturally intelligence in your work zone.

  1. What do you think would be your strengths and weaknesses in each of the other cultural contexts different than yours?  (use cross cultural management tools to sustain your analysis)

My strengths and weaknesses are based in the Mexican society. One of my strength is that all my education is based on the collectivism and I clearly know the disadvantages of the collectivism in the society but the individualist societies people are supposed to look after themselves and their direct family only. The strength comes when you need help from others, and the ones around you will help you. In the job is very important because to know and work in team and have a correct work environment, also you gain loyalty from others, so in the future they are going to response if you face any problem.
