Unit 1.2. You should keep your passport!

Write a paragraph giving advice about the best place to spend a summer vacation. Use modal verbs of advice and the vocabulary you learned in this week.

For me the best place is Cartagena, this place is wonderful. It has beautiful places for visiting, the beach is wonderful also it is clean. The people is very kind. When you go to this place, you should bring with you a lot of money because you are going to spend it in different things. You shouldn’t forget pack adequate clothing for you trip. You shouldn’t bring with you clothes that you are not going to wear there. You’d better keep your ID with you because in this way you can avoid problems with the police in the different places.

Unit 1.3. What's the weather like?

(I describe my experience from my home)

It sounds like a hurricane, I can hear strong wind gusts, I can see torrential rainfall. The weather is bad, it is cold and it is rainy. The strong wind gusts are damaging the buildings next to my home. It is better that we and you in your houses shut windows and doors during this hurricane. It is recommended that you look for a safe place and stay there while the hurricane pass. It is important that you keep the calm and don’t do things to put your life in risk.

Rewrite the following passage in the past-tense of the underlined verbs. Be aware of irregular verbs and write them correctly in the past tense

Hi Mum,

John and I had a wonderful time here in Ireland. Every day we got up early and go for a long walk in the country. When we returned we usually had a very big Irish breakfast which normally consisted of two eggs, three slices of bacon, toast and jam. We usually ordered a cup of coffee after breakfast: Colombian coffee, of course.

After breakfast we sometimes went swimming in the river. We often met children who like to swim there. They were very nice. At night we nearly always drank a few pints of Guinness in the pub�s bar before we went to bed. We always slept well after that, I can assure you.
